About me - I received my first drum kit when I was about 3 years old for Christmas. I am a self-taught drummer that over the past 15 years has been really working hard in all aspects of the music industry. I have played and still play in numerous bands and musical projects. I received outstanding musicianship awards at Northern State University in 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2011, also at the University of Mary in 2010 and 2011, the University of Minnesota Morris in 2009, Augustana University in 2011, The University Of South Dakota in 2011 and at South Dakota State University in 2010 and 2011 all for Jazz Festivals. I also received best soloist awards at Northern State University and South Dakota State University in 2010 and South Dakota State University in 2011 for my jazz drumming. In 2011 I received the best rhythm section player at the University Of Mary, which is the only award of its kind given out at the event. In 2011 I also was awarded a Jazz Improvisation award at the University Of Mary. I have played with and for great musicians such as: Trombonist Tony Baker from North Texas University and The Dallas Orchestra, three time Grammy Winner Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck And The Flecktones and The Dave Matthews Band, Rashawn Ross from The Dave Matthews Band, James McKinney from SDSU and co-founder of the New Ensemble for Clarinet and Percussion (NECAP), Grant Manhart, former Trumpet player for The Buddy Rich Big Band, John Von Ohlen, Louis Bellson, and Ed Shaughnessy and current director at NSU, Dennis McDermott, director at NSU and former member of the Air Force “Noteables” and well known jazz Trumpet player, Doug Rezac a local studio and touring drummer, Ron Parker former touring pianist for Aretha Franklin, Victor Lewis who has performed with many top artists including Woody Shaw, Carla Bley, Kenny Barron, David Sanborn, Dexter Gordon, and Stan Getz. Bassist Erik Applegate who has appeared with jazz artists including the Bob Mintzer Big Band, Nnenna Freelon, Milt Jackson, Jeff Coffin, Mulgrew Miller, Greg Gisbert, Eddie Daniels, Ingrid Jensen, Dick Oatts, George Garzone, Tom Harrell, Don Aliquo, Clay Jenkins, Ron Miles, Scott Wendholdt, Jack Walrath, Kirk Whalum, Dave Pietro, Deborah Brown, Marlena Shaw, Peter Eldridge, Bob Doruugh, Billy Pierce, Alan Dawson and renowned pianist James Williams and in a trio with Harold Mabern and Ed Thigpen. And Many More. As a high school student I toured with a jazz ensemble from Northern State University called The Dominant 7, which I feel is a great accomplishment. The band I was placed with for the 4th Annual Battle of the Bands at the local Red Rooster Coffee shop won the event and I was awarded with the best drummer award as well. I entered the Zildjian Drummer Love competition and received top 5 in my region out of 1500 applicants. I teach drum lessons at the local music store called Pauer Sound and Music. I am currently a session drummer at Pauer Alley Studios. I have recorded with groups such as: Beyond The Mountains, Static Line, Stay Gold, The Trophy Wife, Christian Artist Steven Inches, On The Rocks, Briley Pkwy, Souldrive, Tyler Pridey and have many more future sessions in the books. I have toured with the following groups: Static Line, The Trophy Wife, Amberallalone, Destroy Embrace, Take The Fall, myheartYourhome, Beyond The Mountains, Wind Up Radio, To The Steadfast, Crash Landing, On The Rocks, The Dominant 7, The Gold Star Band, Kayla Tingle, Souldrive, Briley Pkwy and Stay Gold. I have shared the stage with such artists as: The Devil Wears Prada, Seventh Day Slumber, Quietdrive, Eleventyseven, A Hope For Home, So Long Forgotten, Life On Repeat, Spoken, Inhale Exhale, Little Brazil, Feature Presentation, What Happened In Vegas, Skies Alive, This Love, New County and many more. In the summer of 2010 I received an artist endorsement for a custom drum company out of Broomfield, Colorado called Savior Drums. They have built custom drumkits for a lot of mainstream bands that are on tour today. I was also endorsed by Silverfox Drumsticks out of Woburn, Massachusetts, who makes a great amount of sticks and mallets for concert percussion, world percussion, and drumset. Many drumlines and touring artists in the industry use their products. I was the first artist to endorse Adam Argullin mallets who is a great friend of mine. I am a sponsored Indie Music artist, which is a musical distribution store. I endorse Positively Negative Clothing as well. A majority of their profits go to breast cancer cure research. I also endorse De La Cruz Drumkeys. This statement was written about me in a local music magazine last year. “After hearing their child playing around on Pots and Pans at the age of three, the Job's decided to buy Bryce his very first drumset. Ever since, the 17 year old self taught drummer has been making his way through the music scene playing in bands, jazz groups, show choir pits, festivals, worship bands, drumlines, and other various musical groups. Since then he has studied with many drum teachers and taken in a lot of knowledge about the instrument he loves best as well as teaching his own students at Pauer Sound And Music. He has won numerous awards for his group and solo playing and hopes to continue his success in an ever growing and changing field.”
